Early Life
She was born in Jackson Heights in New York City and is the eldest child among her nine siblings. When she was 4 years old, her family moved to the Stephenville community in New Jersey. She was raised in a strict Catholic family and wanted to become an actress since her childhood. Her sisters went to all-girls Saint Francis Grammar School, whereas her brother attended all-boys Saint Mathews Grammar School. In 1964, her family moved to Chandler Hill in Edison. She also worked as a house cleaner, switchboard operator, hairdresser, and hospital aide.
Educational Qualifications
She completed her schooling at Saint Francis Grammar School and later Edison High School. While she was pursuing her education, she was active in theatres, where she played roles in Lady Precious Stream and My Sister Eileen. She was also welcomed into the National Horror Society. In 1964, she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in drama at the Catholic University of America in Washington D.C. Here, she studied under the drama coach named Gilbert V. Hartke.
