Orville Peck was born in Johannesburg, the most populous city in South Africa. He lived there until he turned 15, then moved to Canada. Peck spent his teenage life in Toronto and Vancouver, where he learned acoustic guitar and an old Casio keyboard. While growing up, he learned ballet classes for 12 years and did musical theatre productions. Till his early 20s, he managed to go on national tours of musicals.

He kicked off his career with some serious DIY vibes. While he was juggling his job at a coffee shop and living with his parents, he wrote, produced, and played most of the instruments on his debut album, “Pony.”
